MAP Spirit Week April 18th-21st
18th "We are taking the MAP. Don't sweat it, do your best." Wear sweats/workout clothes!
Wednesday 19th "We are RED-y for the test!" Wear Red for a spirit stick point!
20th "Don't get twisted inside-out about the test." Wear your clothes inside out and/or backwards and crazy.
21st "We're sailing toward our goals." Wear beach/swimming gear/Hawaiian clothes for a spirit stick point!
MAP Testing at MMS
MMS will be MAP testing during the following dates:
7th & 8th grade ELA 4/24-4/28
7th & 8th grade MATH 5/1-5/5
8th grade Science 5/8-/12
MAP parent letters were sent home with students on April 3rd.

8th Grade - Freshmen Course Request Forms
8th Grade Blue Course Request Forms are due to the front office by Thursday, December 8th.
Prior to turning in your blue course request forms make sure they have been signed by you and your parent and you have logged on to PowerSchool and selected your courses.
Schedule Pick Up and Open House
Schedule pick up will be Tuesday, August 2nd, from Noon - 5:00p.m. in the Fema Shelter (Cafeteria).
MMS Open House will be Friday, August 12th, from 4:00p.m. - 6:00p.m.

April 25-29 Communication Arts (7th & 8th grade)Students will be taking their content area tests during their designated class. Please ensure that student are present during our testing window. ACT Aspire for 8th grade only8th grade will taking the ACT Aspire Tuesday, October 27th 1st through 5th hour and Wednesday, October 28th 6th through 8th hour. Please make every effort to ensure your child is present school during these test dates/times.

Schedule Request for 2015
It is time to think about next year's schedule! At the Middle School you get a few choices regarding the classes you take. Please use the information from my classroom presentation and the directions given to help you make your selections. Please know, every effort will be made to meet your needs but sometimes we must make substitutions in the area of elective courses.
Directions for scheduling your classes for the 2015-2016 school year:1. Complete your schedule request form and make sure you and your parents sign the form.
2. Log in to PowerSchool, on the left of the screen click on "Class Registration".
3. Read the class descriptions and requirements.
4. Click on the pencil to the right and then select the class.
5. When all classes have been selected, click "submit" at the bottom of the screen.
6. Turn in your signed schedule request form.
*6th grade turns in their form to their classroom teacher.
*7th grade turns in their form to the Middle School office.
7. Turn in your forms and request your classes in PowerSchool by the following dates:
*6th grade deadline Friday, May 15th.
*7th grade deadline Monday, May 11th.
**Any schedule requests received after the deadline dates will not be accepted.

Random Acts Of Kindness Week

Random Acts of Kindness Week
A week dedicated to performing simple acts of kindness and an opportunity to make kindness the norm instead of the exception! Each day this week everyone will be encouraged to do a kind act for someone else!
Monday - “You’re Awesome” email or note to someone.
Tuesday – sit with someone new at lunch.
Wednesday - hold a door open for someone.
Thursday- smile and say hi to someone that you usually don't to talk to everyday.
This is an opportunity to show how something as simple
as a kind act toward another can make a difference!
World Cancer Day 2015
To help promote awareness for World Cancer Day 2015, STUCO has planned student dress up days for next week!
Tuesday-We are fighting for a cure. Wear camouflage
Wednesday- I'm crazy for a Cure! Dress crazy.
- I'm dreaming of a cure. Wear P.J.s
**Wednesday, February 4th, at 8:15a.m., all staff and students will step out into the hallways and link arms throughout the building to form a "chain of support". Once linked, there will be a 30 second period of silence in honor of the 30 cancers recognized by the American Cancer Association.

Monday-“With a butterfly kiss, and a ladybug hug, sleep tight little one like a bug in a rug.” Give hugs and kisses not drugs! (Wear warm pajamas!)
Tuesday- “You can think any think that you wish…." Put on your thinking cap and be smart about not doing drugs! (Wear hats!)
There will be a prize for the best dressed TWIN in each grade level and teacher group!- “Today you are you, that's truer than true...” Find someone to dress like you! (Twin day!)
(Dress Fun, Mixed up and/or Crazy!)- “Why fit in when you were born to STAND OUT!” Don't follow the crowd, don't do drugs!

Don't Drop the Ball
During the month of September, I visited 7th and 8th grade Social Studies classes and presented "Don't Drop the Ball". This was a hands-on lesson to remind students of who their "team" was at school and the important role everyone has on the team! The lesson emphasized problem solving and communication skills. Students were encouraged to be an effective team member to ensure a successful school year.
